2018 Audi S5 Review, Changes, Engine

The balance between design and performance has always seemed to challenge even to the most experienced automakers. Typically, premium cars that have an outstanding design pose lackluster performance specs. Similarly cars that have generic and uninspiring designs come with well tuned and high performance engines. Over the years, the German automaker, Audi, has dealt with this challenge in the best possible way and the results of this multiyear endeavor are evident in the 2018 Audi S5.

2018 Audi S5 Exterior, Interior

The 2018 Audi’s exterior is not much different from its predecessor. Its prominent hexagonal grill is featured right below the iconic 4 rings that make up the Audi badge. The design of the headlamps, fog lights, tail lights and side mirrors has not changed. It is accurate to say that Audi has gone to great lengths to preserve the goods looks of its predecessor. This is not to say that improvements to the exterior have not been made. The chassis has been redesigned. The bumper has also been remodeled to give the car a better look. The car also sports new 18 inch wheels.

Audi’s focus on the 2018 model has been on the interior. The first thing a discerning eye would notice about the interior is attention to detail on the dashboard. The 6.5 inch display is well placed to control car functions such as the navigation system, the infotainment system as well as Internet access. The car features 5 stylish leather seats with adequate legroom. The steering wheel is new and adjacent controls have been redesigned with an eye towards function over flair. Other features included in the car are cruise control, blue tooth, an improved audio system, parking assist, rear view cameras as well as airbags.

The 2018 Audi S5 is powered by a 3 liter V6 engine. This engine propels the vehicle from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. There are two options for speed control: a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7 speed double clutch automatic. The power of the engine peaks at 336 horsepower while outputting 325 pound-foot of torque. These performance specs have been achieved by the redesign of the chassis and the use of light weight materials in the 2018 model. The fuel economy rating for the 2018 Audi S5 is 21 mpg for combined highway and city driving.
